K. M. Huber, she/her, (Kathi/Kathryn) grew up in Seattle, studied theater in Oregon, and moved to NYC with a typewriter as her only valuable belonging. Her favorite part of living, working and studying in NY (MSW from Columbia U) were the diverse stories to be found, and coming to understand the systems that influence people's lives.
She married a Peruvian and moved to Lima just before the eruption of prolonged violent civil strife. Work later took them to Bolivia, Costa Rica and Atlanta, then returned them to Lima. There, Huber worked with educational organizations, coordinated cultural programs, and explored Peru for over a decade.
Her research into the Nazca region led to making an award-winning documentary short about deforestation in southern Peru with Peruvian filmmaker Delia Ackerman. Huber’s essays, poems and stories have also appeared in Rougarou, MacGuffin, Post Road, and failbetter.com, among others. She and her husband recently moved to Tennessee to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
